A south-facing main entrance is not inherently inauspicious in Vastu Shastra — the outcome depends on which specific Pada (division) of the south wall the door occupies within the Vastu Purusha Mandala grid. If the door falls in the 4th Pada ruled by Grihakshata or the auspicious Pada of Pushpadanta, it can actually support material prosperity and authority. However, if it aligns with the Yama or Gandharva Padas, the entry channel draws in heavy, downward energy associated with obstacles and lethargy. Non-structural remedies include installing a bright threshold lamp (Deepak) at the entrance to activate Agni element, placing a Hanuman or Ganesha image above the door frame to guard the entry, painting the door in shades of maroon or dark green to ground the energy, and ensuring the interior foyer is well-lit and clutter-free so that Prana flows inward rather than stagnating at the threshold.

Griha Pravesh Muhurat selection is one of the most elaborate processes in electional astrology because the home you enter will influence your family for decades. The ideal Muhurat requires an auspicious Tithi — Dwitiya, Tritiya, Panchami, Saptami, Dashami, Ekadashi, Dwadashi, or Trayodashi of Shukla Paksha are preferred, while Amavasya, Chaturthi, Navami, and Chaturdashi are strictly avoided. The Nakshatra must be fixed (Sthira) or soft (Mridu) such as Rohini, Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada, Mrigashira, Revati, Chitra, or Anuradha. The Vara should ideally be Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday — never Tuesday or Saturday for Griha Pravesh. Additionally, the Lagna (Ascendant) at the moment of entry must be a fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) with benefics in Kendras, and the 4th house lord must not be combust or debilitated, while checking that no Bhadra Karana or Vishti is operative at the selected time.

According to Vastu Shastra, the ideal home office location depends on whether your work requires creative thinking or administrative authority — the west and southwest zones are governed by Varun and Niriti respectively, making them powerful for leadership, decision-making, and financial management, while the north (Kubera Sthana) supports wealth generation and the northeast enhances intellectual and advisory work. Your desk should face east or north while working, as these directions channel solar and magnetic energies that sharpen concentration and mental clarity. The Brahmasthan (center) of your office room must remain open and uncluttered to allow Prana circulation. Heavy storage, filing cabinets, and safes should occupy the southwest corner to ground the space with earth element energy, while electronic equipment and routers can be placed in the southeast (Agneya) zone aligned with the fire element that powers technology. Avoid sitting directly under an overhead beam, which creates Vastu pressure (Shir-Peedha), and never position your back toward the main door, as this weakens your command of the space.

Business inauguration requires a Muhurat that activates wealth (Dhana) and success (Vijaya) energies simultaneously through careful Panchang analysis. The Tithi should be from the Nanda group (Pratipada, Shashthi, Ekadashi) for new beginnings or the Jaya group (Tritiya, Ashtami, Trayodashi) for victory and competitive edge — avoid Rikta Tithis (Chaturthi, Navami, Chaturdashi) as they signify emptiness in material undertakings. The Nakshatra must be a Chara (movable) type like Punarvasu, Swati, Shravana, or Shatabhisha for ventures requiring growth and expansion, or a Sthira (fixed) type like Rohini or Uttara Phalguni for stable long-term enterprises. Thursday (Guru Vara) is considered most auspicious for business launches as Jupiter governs expansion and fortune, while Wednesday (Budha Vara) suits trade and commerce. The Lagna at the inauguration moment should have the 10th lord strong and unafflicted, with Jupiter or Venus in a Kendra, and the 8th house must be free from malefic occupation to prevent hidden obstacles and sudden reversals in the venture.

A kitchen in the northeast (Ishanya) is one of the most severe Vastu Doshas because it places the fire element (Agni Tattva) directly in the zone governed by water element (Jala Tattva) and spiritual purity — this elemental conflict creates a constant energetic clash that manifests as health problems particularly related to the head and nervous system, spiritual stagnation, and disruption of children's education and concentration. The northeast is sacred to Lord Shiva and presided over by the deity Isha, making it the zone of highest spiritual vibration in any dwelling — polluting it with cooking fire, smoke, and waste fundamentally corrupts the Prana entry point of the entire home. If relocation is impossible, place a large earthen pot filled with clean water in the northeast corner of the kitchen to pacify the elemental conflict, install a Vastu Dosh Nivaran Yantra on the east wall, ensure the cooking stove is positioned as far southeast within the room as possible, and use green or cream-colored tiles to introduce earth element as a mediator between fire and water. Additionally, keep a Tulsi plant near the northeast window to purify the energy and perform Agnihotra or light a ghee lamp in the actual northeast corner of the home (outside the kitchen) daily to redirect spiritual energy flow.
